Ο Ζάφος Ξαγοράρης γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1963. Σπούδασε στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας και στο Τεχνολογικό Ινστιτούτο της Μασαχουσέτης (MIT) με υποτροφία του Ιδρύματος Αλέξανδρος Σ. Ωνάσης. Συνέχισε με την εκπόνηση διδακτορικής διατριβής στο Τμήμα Αρχιτεκτονικής του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου.
Το έργο του περιλαμβάνει γλυπτικές κατασκευές, εγκαταστάσεις, περιβάλλοντα, ενώ από τη δεκαετία του 1990 επεξεργάζεται την ιδέα των μεταβαλλόμενων χώρων, στους οποίους ο θεατής καλείται να περιπλανηθεί και να διαγράψει μια διαδρομή στο χώρο.
Έχει παρουσιάσει το έργο του σε μια σειρά από ατομικές εκθέσεις, με πρώτη στο Επίκεντρο της Πάτρας το 1992 και συμμετείχε σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις: 58η Μπιενάλε της Βενετίας, Greek Pavilion, «Mr. Stigl» (2019), «Γνωριστήκαμε; Dialogues on Memory and Desire”, Stamps Gallery, Ann Arbor (2018), Documenta 14, Kassel and Athens (2017), Politiche della Natura, Fondazione Zimei, Πεσκάρα (2016), 4η Μπιενάλε της Αθήνας (2013), Sotto Queero, Musto Queelo 2011, ETICO_F, Termini Imerese (2010). Είναι καθηγητής στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας, διευθυντής του Η’ Εργαστηρίου Ζωγραφικής, ενώ έχει διδάξει στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών και στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Sassari.
Ζει και εργάζεται στην Αθήνα.

Zafos Xagoraris was born in Athens in 1963. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on a scholarship from the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation. He continued with a PhD thesis at the Department of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens.
His work includes sculptural structures, installations, environments, and since the 1990s he has been working on the idea of changing spaces, in which the viewer is invited to wander and chart a path through space.
He has presented his work in a series of solo exhibitions, the first at the Epikentro in Patras in 1992 and participated in group exhibitions. He is professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts, director of the H' Painting Workshop, and has taught at the University of Patras and the University of Sassari.
